Thanks to donors like you and our matching sponsors, we reached 100 percent of our Giving Tuesday goal. Together, we raised $46,956 to fund three new Arjo Maxi Move 5 lifts for long term care residents at Menno Place.

This is a major win for resident comfort and staff safety. Thank you.

The need continues. For 2026, Menno Place requires a total of eleven lifts. With three now funded, we are working to raise support for eight more lifts during our Christmas Campaign.

What is donation-matching and how does it work?
Generous donors and business partners have designated funds to match #GivingTuesday donations to Menno Place. Every dollar you give will be matched until these funds run out, doubling the impact of your donation. Our partners commit to this donation-matching program to encourage and challenge others to make a meaningful difference for seniors in long-term care.
What is Giving Tuesday?
Giving Tuesday is an annual global day of generosity that takes place on the first Tuesday after American Thanksgiving. It was created in response to the the consumer-driven days of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, shifting the focus to generosity and charitable giving. Even though Giving Tuesday is on December 2nd this year, we receive donations towards this special initiative for an entire month to give our Menno Place community an opportunity to be a part of this special challenge.
Is there a deadline for #GivingTuesday donations?
You can make your #GivingTuesday donation to Menno Place between Nov, 5 and Dec 8, 2025. Regular donations to our general fund can be received HERE at any time, however, they are not eligible for this special matching initiative.
What happens if #GivingTuesday donations exceed the match amount?
Matching funds are only available for a limited time, which is why we encourage our donors to make their gift as soon as possible! Any donations above the match amount will still go towards the purchase of the Maxi Move 5 lift.
What happens if the total fundraising goal is not reached by Dec 8th?
Menno Place is committed to the purchase of new Maxi Move 5 Lifts for seniors in long-term care. If our goal is not reached at this time, we will seek additional funds to ensure our residents receive this new equipment.
Will I receive a tax receipt for my #GivingTuesday donation?
Yes, donations of $20 and over are eligible for a tax receipt.
Can I claim a tax deduction for the matched portion of my donation?
No, you will only receive a tax receipt for the amount of your initial contribution.

If, in the opinion of MBS, it should become no longer practical or possible to use this gift for the specified purpose, (for example, if the program to which it relates is restructured or discontinued), MBS will seek the written consent of the donor (or family, if applicable) to redirect the gift to a new purpose. If the donor cannot be traced, MBS will direct the gift towards a new purpose that is, in their opinion, as close as possible to the original intent of the donor. The support provided by the redirected gift will continue to be identified with the donor.
